Subjects Taught
English 8, Yearbook

I graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2007 with degrees in English and Sociology. Then I completed the required education classes at Troy Dothan.

I have taught in Henry County since 2009. I taught 7th grade English in Abbeville for one year and have spent the rest of my teaching career at Headland Middle School. I have taught 7th grade reading and several electives in the 9th grade academy. I am currently teaching 8th grade English.

I was born and raised in Birmingham, Al. I moved to the Headland area when I married my husband, John. We have two dogs: Junior and Mason. Juior is the oldest and  is extremely spoiled and is often the main character in many of my stories. Mason is a half bloodhound and lab. He is big and sweet.

I love living here, but it is very different from the "big" city. Before I came here, I had never been around farms or anything associated with them. I had never been on a tractor before or been four wheeling. But, now I cannot imagine living anywhere else. I love the smell of peanuts, and I love the way cotton looks right before it is picked.

I became a language arts teacher, because I love to read all types of material: everything from books, poetry, plays, speeches, and essays. I read just about everyday. I have a long list of favorite books and plays including, the Harry Potter Series, Romeo and Juilet, To Kill a Mockingbird, Eclipse, A Raisen in the Sun, Chew on This, Tiger's Curse, The Lightning Thief, The Lost Hero, and many more. My favorite genre is fiction, but I do like some nonfiction.
